The band sounded incredible I was impressed by the fidelity of the sound, considering the outdoor venue doesn’t always boast the most flattering acoustic setup. The place was teeming with stoked rock fans, including one fellow who seemed to be at least twelve sheets to the wind and insisted on howling out the words to Lucille, much to the amusement of his neighbours.Post Sonics, I headed up to the El Mocambo, where I was pleasantly surprised by Band Of Skulls, a three piece from Southampton (UK), who specialize in a cross between crisp, angular post punk rhythms and sludgy, bluesy heavy rock riffs. What sets BOS apart from others of their ilk is the band’s unexpected investment in tender harmonies and well crafted vocal melodies singer bassist Emma Richardson is nothing short of superb.Ghost Bees is made up of twin sisters Romy and Sari Lightman, who bring an earthy, magical air to their shows.
